Fascinating Greg! Do you know what becomes of the shell after the coconut water is consumed? More coir for planters and landscaping? Missing you in and knowing you are having a blast in Hawaii. Be safe out there!

The whole coconut shell is often used as a cooking vessel once the fibers are scraped out. Those fibers can be bunched together and tied to make mini brooms. They also make great scrubbers to clean pots and pans. Great question skeeter. Thanks for writing.
